Dr. Aisha Akhtar is board-certified in general surgery with an ACGME-accredited fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery. Her passion for medicine inspired her to receive a medical degree from the Army Medical College in Pakistan. At the age of 29, Dr. Akhtar moved to Houston where she completed an oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Currently, Dr. Akhtar is a Diplomate of American Board of Surgery and Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons. She's also a member of the American College of Surgery and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She specializes in research and has been published in various medical journals including International Surgery Journal and Cureus. Dr. Akhtar's specialties lie in the treatment of benign and malignant conditions like cancers of the colon and rectum, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas and fecal incontinence. She lives in Scottsdale where she enjoys cooking and spending time with her two sons.
